AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

The department was established with an aim to provide an opportunity to students who want to take Music as a subject for their undergraduate course. The key objective was to enhance students' knowledge and interest in this subject through a comprehensive teaching curriculum that includes the theoretical as well as practical aspects of Music. While the department was instituted to offer Musicas a subject for General (Pass) course, we are hopeful to introduce it as a Honours course so that interested students can flourish with their preferred subject Music and may pursue higher studies in this domain. Since Music is closely associated with our culture, it is our duty to inculcate in our students a sense of responsibility to protect and advance that culture. To that end, the Music department organises various cultural programmes involving the students of the Music department and music lovers of other departments. The efforts of faculties and all concerned individuals in the advancement and welfare of the department's students is highly appreciated.
