ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Geography, Khejuri College was established in the initial year of this college, i.e., 1999, for the students of this scheduled caste majority coastal area. The immediate aim of this department was to fulfil the demand of the local students and guardians for the introduction of Geography general and honours in undergraduate level. This college got its affiliation for Geography (General) and Geography (Honours) on 6th October, 1999 and 21st August, 2002 respectively from the Vidyasagar University. From the very beginning, this department was successful in helping the job aspirant students in getting jobs. Along with class teaching according to the university curriculum, the students are also encouraged to understand the physical and human environment of the surroundings and beyond thorough field survey and to find out problem, prospects and planning. However, special thrusts are exerted to understand and mitigate the local physical and socio-economic problems, like problems arising out of cyclone, flood, seasonal migration of workers, trafficking etc. Department of Geography is keeping it up-to-date with changing tools and techniques of the subject by taking special attention on Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System. It arranges webinars, seminars and add-on programmes to get the students ready for contemporary world.&nbsp;
